Benelli TRK 502 comes first in twin-cylinder adventure motorcycles and competes with the Kawasaki Verseys 650 and Honda CB500X in India. Today we are reviewing 2021 Benelli TRK 502 in this article
Adventure Tourer Motorcycles is truly explaining the true definition of adventure to Indian riders. Now let me explain this to you in this way. Start with Hero Xpulse 200 then KTM 250 Adventure, BMW 310 GS, KTM 390 Adventure and Royal Enfield Himalayan, these are being sold in a big way. They have a lot of buyers and if you go a little higher in this segment, you will first see twin-cylinder adventure motorcycles, the first name of which comes in the name of Benelli TRK 502 and the Kawasaki Verseys 650 and Honda CB500X are present in India. Well, today we are reviewing the 2021 Benelli TRK 502 in this article as it is available at a much lower price than the Verseys 650 and CB500X.
The TRK 502 is a more road focused adventure motorcycle. At the same time, Benelli’s second TRK 502X can be taken both off-road and on-road. At present TRK is 502, so we talk about this. First of all, talking about the design, then you will like to see its design for the first time. The road precision of this bike is tremendous. While walking on the streets, people look at it with twisted eyes. This bike looks very big.
If you look carefully at the length, height, width and wheelbase, it seems to be leaving everyone behind in the competition. It gets a fuel tank of 20 liters. Overall, the design remains the same as the old model. Yes, you will definitely see a small change on the front mudguard, which now comes with the body color.
Coming to the instrument cluster, it still comes with a digi-analogue unit, but the analog tachometer and smaller digital display are now backlit. The company has also updated the switchgear and has included backlit in it too. The switchgear now looks premium as compared to the old model.
Engine and performance
The TRK 502 is powered by a 500cc parallel twin engine that generates 47 bhp power and 46 Nm torque. Let me tell you one thing about Benelli which many riders like and many riders don’t. Unlike adventure tourers and cruisers inclined towards torque, the company uses a 360-degree cank. Because of this, even if you run it at 9000 rpm, then you get torque in it at a slow speed. The combination of low-gears and high-speed will not be available at all. Vibration is also seen on the handlebar and foot pegs.
If seen, if you are cruising on the highway in 6th gear, then your minimum speed is 60km in it, which can easily pull more than 150km. It takes about 7 seconds to catch the speed of 0 to 100 kmph. The engine is quite refined but the company could have improved a bit more in performance. And yes, last thing about the exhaust note, it gives you much better response while driving.
On the highway, you can easily cruise it all day at 5,000 rpm. The seat is very comfortable and it also gives you better support. The weight of the bike is 235 kg i.e. TRK proves to be only 10 kg heavier than Triumph Tiger. There was a moment during the ride where I had a tight turn and to be honest, TRK did not disappoint me at all. The 17-inch Pirelli tires get an overall better grip on the road. The suspension on sharp breakers also works fine.
My height is around 5.5 feet and the seat height of TRK is 800mm. Still I am not having any problem in driving this bike. But yes, it is not as aggressive as it looks in terms of performance.
The 2021 TRK 502 is priced at Rs 4.70 lakh (ex-showroom), making it one of the more affordable adventure tourer motorcycles in its segment, while other bikes in this segment are costlier by Rs 2 lakh each. This bike is very comfortable at this price. But yes, you will not get as fast performance as other bikes in the segment. If your budget is also up to Rs 5 lakh and looking to buy such an adventure tourer bike that has great road presence, then this will prove to be the best bike for you.
