Tata Motors is all set to launch its facelifted Tigor EV in India. The company will launch this electric sedan in the market this week. Tata Motors has used Ziptron technology in this which makes it more effective.

The country’s leading automaker Tata Motors teased its Tigor EV a few days ago. Now the carmaker has revealed that it will launch this electric car in India this week on August 18. The Tigor EV facelift follows the launch of the Xpress-T EV, which is an electric Tigor but only for fleet operators.

The upcoming Tigor EV will be available for personal use and will look similar to the BS6 Tigor. Of course, being an EV, it will have certain design elements like a closed grille, redesigned air intakes, etc. However, the biggest change will be that the facelifted Tigor for personal use will use the company’s Ziptron powertrain which is currently used on the Nexon EV. This powertrain will offer better performance and a longer range than the outgoing electric Tigor.

The new Tata Tigor Ziptron EV is expected to use the Nexon EV’s 30.2 kWh battery pack that is capable of producing 127 bhp power and 245 Nm of torque on the electric SUV. But it is believed that this powertrain will generate less power on the Tigor EV. The Ziptron technology is also expected to increase the driving range of the Tigor EV to 300 km per charge. The existing Tata Tigor (for personal use) comes with a 21.5 kWh battery pack that gives an ARAI-certified driving range of 213 km on a single charge. Apart from this, the Tata Ziptron also comes with better thermal management which helps in providing the long life of the battery pack.

The Tigor EV facelifted model will also receive some design changes that will bring it in line with the Xpres-T EV (which in turn is inspired by the BS6 Tigor). Hence, we expect it to get a new grille with blue highlights, redesigned headlamps, new LED fog lamps, and a different design for the alloy wheels.

The charging port will now be in the front grille instead of the rear fenders. On the other hand, the facelifted electric Tigor will be more feature-equipped than its predecessor and will get a fully digital instrument cluster, touchscreen infotainment system with smartphone connectivity, automatic AC, and more. All these changes are expected to make the 2021 Tata Tigor EV costlier than before. Let us know that the price of Tigor EV is currently ₹ 12.59 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi)
