Citroen C3 Unveiled: French automaker Citroen has today officially introduced its much-awaited sub-compact SUV C3. Equipped with a very stylish look, this car is made in India, the company says, that about 90 per cent of it will be produced locally and will be manufactured at the Tiruvallur facility near Chennai in Tamil Nadu. Citroen launched the C5 Aircross as its first product in India. However, in India, the C5 was launched in a segment that has less customers in the market. So the same company is now keeping an eye on the popular subcompact segment through C3. The Citroen C3 is being manufactured by the French carmaker as a ‘hatchback with SUV cues’. It is based on the Common Modular Platform (CMP), and this platform is shared with the Tata Punch Micro SUV. The company says that this platform can be said to be electric ready, that in future we can also see the electric avatar of C3.
C5 Aircross SUV design and cabin
The Citroen C3 gets a smart face with LED headlights and DRL units on either side. Two chrome bars on the bonnet divide the two DRL units on either side. Overall, it sports a sporty bonnet design, which sports attractive alloy wheels as well as LED taillights. At the same time, the Citroen C3 will be launched in four colour options Orange-White Dual Tone, Orange-Black, Blue-White and Grey-Black. The Citroen C3 gets a freestanding 10-inch touchscreen infotainment screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, gets a one-litre glovebox and 315-litres of boot space.
These vehicles will get competition in the segment
Citroen hasn’t revealed any details about the engine yet. However, it is likely to get a 1.2-litre turbocharged motor. To recall, the Citroen C3 will be the second offering from the French auto giant in India after the C5 Aircross SUV. The French carmaker has confirmed that the C3 will hit Indian roads early next year. At the same time, it will compete with vehicles like Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Nissan Magnite, Renault Kiger, Mahindra XUV300 in India.
