CNG car Launching Soon: Maruti Suzuki has revealed plans to expand its CNG portfolio by producing five lakh units in the upcoming financial year in the Indian market. The Indo-Japanese automaker is today a leader in the CNG sector with a market share of over 8.5 per cent. Let us tell you that the company is planning to bring CNG variants of its popular models Alto, Baleno and Brezza.
Maruti Baleno CNG
The Maruti Baleno CNG variant will be powered by a 1.2-litre DualJet petrol engine that will be mated to a factory-fitted CNG kit. Its gasoline unit produces 87bhp of peak power and 113Nm of torque. The company promises an ARAI-certified fuel efficiency of over 22kmpl. The mileage of the CNG version of this hatchback will be much higher. But its power and torque will be slightly less than the regular petrol motor. According to the leaked information, the Baleno CNG will give a mileage of 25 km/kg.
Toyota Glanza CNG
Toyota Kirloskar Motor will introduce a CNG variant of the Glanza hatchback based on the Maruti Baleno. It will be made available in three variants – S, G and V, packed with a 1.2-litre, 4-cylinder petrol motor and a CNG kit. Its power output will be around 76bhp at 6,000rpm. Its transmission duties will be done by a 5-speed manual gearbox. At the same time, all CNG variants of Toyota Glanza will have a GVW of 1450 kg. The company can launch this car in the coming weeks.
Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara and Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder
Both companies have recently launched their hybrid mid-size SUVs – Maruti Grand Vitara and Toyota Urban Cruiser Header. The powertrain setup of the SUV includes 114bhp, 1.5L petrol strong hybrid with e-CVT gearbox and 103bhp, 1.5L petrol mild hybrid with 5-speed manual and 6-speed automatic gearbox options.
