Ford Eco Sport’s new facelift variant spotted during testing, will get major changes
American automaker Ford has not made any changes to its EcoSport in India for a long time. But recently the facelift variant with a new design of this popular SUV of the company has been seen during testing.
America’s leading automaker Ford sells its popular sub-compact SUV EcoSport in India. The company has kept its compact SUV the same for a long time and has not made any changes in its design. Due to which the SUV segment becoming popular in India is lagging somewhere in comparison to its other competitors. Because of which the company is now preparing to launch its facelift variant. Recently, the facelift variant of the EcoSport has been spied testing for the first time in India.
Talking about changes in Ford’s new EcoSport, it includes a new LED DRL which is placed under the bumper around the fog lamps. However, the headlamp unit also gets another set of DRLs. The front grille seems to have been updated with a bigger design than the outgoing model. Spy images show that the company is going to give new alloy wheels in this popular SUV. Apart from this, there has been no change in the side profile of the new EcoSport.
For information, let us tell you that Ford EcoSport started the compact SUV segment in India in the year 2012. Very few changes have been made in terms of design in this SUV over the years. However, this new facelifted model will also come with minor exterior changes rather than an all-new design. However, not much information has been received about the interiors yet. But it is believed that the new EcoSport will get a new dashboard and new infotainment system which supports the latest technology.
Engine: At present, the compact SUV is offered in two engine options, which include 1.5-liter petrol and a 1.5-liter diesel engine. The petrol engine churns out a maximum of 121bhp and 149Nm of torque which is mated to either a five-speed manual or a six-speed torque-converter automatic. The diesel engine, on the other hand, is capable of producing a maximum of 99bhp and 215Nm of torque as standard mated to a 5-speed gearbox.
