Hero Xtreme 160R Review: Heropanti seen in looks and performance

Hero Xtreme is offering the company a new 160 cc air-cooled engine that comes with Xsens technology and advanced programmed fuel injection system.

With the Hero Xtreme 160R, the country’s leading two-wheeler manufacturer Hero Motocorp has gone on to play a new shift in the popular 160 cc motorcycle segment. In the Indian market, motorcycles accounted for 88% or less of Rs 1 lakh. Hero Motocorp has always been very focused on its bikes up to Rs 1 lakh and recently the company has launched its Hero XTreme 160R, which we have brought for you.

The company first introduced the Hero XTreme 160R at Hero’s Global Center for Innovation and Technology in Jaipur and now we have this motorcycle for a few days, which we have driven on urban roads as well as highways. So let’s know in which cases this bike makes us happy and where it seems to disappoint.

In appearance, this bike comes with a completely muscular street fighter stance. It has full LED headlamps, LED tail lights and best of all, LED turn indicators have been given, which are the first in segment. The exhaust is very compact and sporty. Also, an integrated pillion grab has also been provided for the rear-seated passenger. The bike comes completely with dual tone vibrant colors. We sported a gray color variant with a sporty red which looks really cute on this motorcycle.

Now if we talk about the top features then it comes with the All LED package which is the first in the segment. It also has a side stand engine cut-off, which proves to be very effective for safety. It also has 9 inbuilt sensors with INTELLI ride.

The speedometer is full digital and comes with welcome messages, however, you do not get to see the gear position indicator, which can be considered a big minus point in it. Apart from this, the company has also given a switch to Hazard Light in it.

Hero Xtreme is offering the company a new 160 cc air-cooled engine that comes with Xsens technology and advanced programmed fuel injection system. This engine generates 15 bhp power at 8500 rpm and 14 Nm torque at 6500 rpm. It takes 4.6 seconds to catch the speed of 0 to 60 kmph, which is more than the best selling bikes of this segment, TVS Apache RTR 160 4V and Pulsar NS 160. This bike has the best in class power to ratio.

Also, its weight is quite light 139 kg (double disc). Vibration is not available in this bike even at high speed and most importantly it keeps your confidence during turning or cornering. For urban roads, the company has given 37mm wide SHOWA suspensions to the front of the bike, which works much better on pits. Also, in the rear you get 7 step adjustable mono suspensions, which do not let you know even during the thickest pit rides.

The company has greatly improved the ergonomics of the bike. It has a strong diamond frame which proves to be very good for its precise and sharp handling. The bike has a radial tire with a rear 130mm width to make it a better grip on the roads. The alloys come with a very light weight and 270 mm discs at the front and 220 mm petal disc brakes at the rear which are taken from the NISSIN company and it has single channel ABS. The braking is very good and keeps the balance of the bike at a quick stop even at high speed.

Our Opinion

If you are also a college student or you want to buy your first bike that will enjoy a head turner and thrill of ride, then the Hero Xtreme 160R can prove to be a hero for you. Hero Xtreme 160R single disc and single channel ABS are priced at Rs 99,950 and single channel ABS with double disc is priced at Rs 1,03,500 (ex-showroom, Delhi). Other services
