Piaggio launches the first three-wheeler powered by the battery.

The company launched Ape E-Xtra FX in the electric three-wheeler cargo segment at an initial price of 3.12 lakh. Let us tell you that the company has also launched the 2021 version of its passenger electric three-wheeler Ape E-City at a price of 2.83 lakhs.

Piaggio Vehicles Enters in EV Segment: Small commercial vehicle manufacturer Piaggio has entered the electric three-wheeler vehicle segment with the launch of Ape E-Xtra FX in India today. The company launched Ape E-Xtra FX in the electric three-wheeler cargo segment at an initial price of 3.12 lakh. Let us tell you that the company has also launched the 2021 version of its passenger electric three-wheeler Ape E-City at a price of 2.83 lakhs. The point to note here is that both these prices are fixed after ex-showroom and post FAME-II subsidy.

The company has used fixed batteries in both three-wheelers. The app comes with E-Extra FX 9.5 kWh lithium-ion battery and is fitted with a six-foot cargo deck. This can be modified as per the requirement of the function. At the same time, both new e-three-wheelers also get features such as blue vision headlamps, regenerative braking, multi-information instrument cluster and boost mode, hill hold assist as well as automatic transmission.

In addition, the e-cargo three-wheeler can cater to various other segments such as e-commerce, gas cylinders, mineral water bottle and FMCG besides vegetable transport. Piaggio also claims that the running cost of the vehicle is low and it provides movement at an affordable price. The company is offering a 3-year / one lakh km warranty on both the vehicles as well as a three-year free maintenance package for all customers.

Piaggio Commercial Vehicles, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Piaggio Group, stepped into the electric three-wheeler market in December 2019 with the first model of the App E-City, which comes with a swappable battery. Company President and Managing Director Diego Graffi said, “Posting the launch of the app ‘e-city in 2019 with swappable technology, we are now offering solutions to meet the diverse needs of customers.”
