Hero Honda CBZ is the first name in the list of sports bikes that was launched in 1999. After this motorcycles like Bajaj Pluser KTM Duke knocked in India. For now, things are happening with the Xtreme 160R bike.
Sports Bike List in India: After regular motorcycles, the sports bikes segment is the most preferred in India. Many such motorcycles are available for sale today with different power engines, but there was a time when models like Splendor and Freedom were the first choice of every household. In such a situation, the Hero-Honda CBZ bike entered, which brought a new revolution in the sports bike segment. It would not be wrong to call it India’s first sports bike. At the same time, recently Hero’s new Xtreme 160 bike has been seen testing.
In such a situation, the question arises as to how much development of these motorcycles has happened in India since then. Today we are going to tell about them.
Hero Honda CBZ
Hero Honda CBZ was one of the first sports bikes to arrive in India in 1999. This bike was brought under the CB series and was given an engine power of 156.8cc. It was the most luxurious motorcycle of that time, which every motorcycle lover in the country wanted to buy. Later to compete with its rivals, this bike got new updates in 2004, after which it was launched as CBZ Star.
Bajaj Pulsar has played a big role in reducing the demand for Hero Honda. It was launched in 2001 and later included many great models under the Placer series. Its design was so spectacular that it attracted bikers across the country at that time.
The design was created by designer Glynn Kerr, who also designed models such as BMW, Triumph, Kawasaki, Ducati, and Harley-Davidson. Because of this, a glimpse of the luxury support bike was seen in its look.
The original Pulsar was powered by a 150cc air-cooled, single-cylinder, spark-ignited four-stroke petrol engine that produced a maximum power of 13bhp. At present, this bike gets a long range from 135cc to 200cc engine power.
Hero Honda Karizma
Following the success of CBZ in the sporty bike segment, Hero Honda jointly launched the Karizma bike. It was introduced in 2003, after which it was updated several times. Hero Honda Karizma attracted the attention of customers in the upper bike segment and was a huge hit in the market. Hero Honda Karizma was given a 223cc SOHC-air-cooled engine, mated to a five-speed gearbox.
KTM Duke Twins
The sports bike segment completely changed with the advent of KTM bikes. These bikes are known to take performance motorcycles to the next level in India. The first generation model was a 200cc bike, after which engines up to 390cc were made available in this series.
2023 Hero Xtreme 160R
After these great sporty bikes, many more names were added to this segment. At the moment, a new model is expected to be seen soon. Recently, the Hero Xtreme 160R bike has been seen testing, which can come with an engine power of 163cc. Not much is known about it at the moment, but once launched, it will compete with motorcycles like Bajaj Pulsar and TVS Apache.
