This off road SUV will take on Mahindra Thar, read comparison

Mahindra has recently launched the new Mahindra Thar in the Indian market. In the Indian market, this off-road SUV can compete with the already existing Force Gurkha in the market. Here we are comparing the new Thar to the Force Gurkha 2.2 model.


Talking about dimensions, Force Gurkha 2.2 has a wheelbase of 2400 mm, width 1820 mm, length 3992 mm, height 2075 mm, front track 1530 mm, rear track 1480 mm, weight 2510 kg and fuel tank capacity 63.5 liters. In terms of dimensions, the wheelbase of Mahindra Thar is 2450 mm, width 1820 mm, length 3985 mm, height 1920 mm, front track 1520 mm, rear track 1520 mm, ground clearance 219 mm and fuel tank capacity 57 liters.

Power and specification: 

In terms of power and specification, the Force Gurkha 2.2 has a 2149 cc 4-cylinder, inline, TCIC common rail diesel engine that provides 140 hp power at 3800 Rpm and 321 Nm at 1600-2400 Rpm. Generates torque of Speaking of transmission, the engine is equipped with a 6-speed gearbox. Speaking of power and specifications, the Mahindra Thar has a 2184 cc 4-cylinder mHawk diesel engine that generates 130 Hp power at 3750 Rpm and 300 Nm torque at 1600-2800 Rpm. Talking about the transmission, the engine has a 6-speed manual gearbox.

Suspension and Braking System:

Talking about the suspension, the Force Gurkha 2.2 front and rear have multiple link hydraulic telescopic shock absorber with pan hard rod and coil springs and anti roll bar suspension. Talking about the braking system, the Force Gurkha has a disc brake at the front and a drum brake at the rear. Speaking of suspension, the Mahindra Thar has an independent double wishbone suspension with stabilizer bar and coil over dampers at the front and multilink solid rear axle suspension with stabilizer bars and coil over dampers at the rear. Talking about the braking system, the Thar has a 303 mm disc brake at the front and a 282 mm drum brake at the rear.


Talking about the price, the starting ex showroom price of Force Gurkha 2.2 is around Rs 9.75. On the other hand, Mahindra Thar has an initial ex-showroom price of Rs 9.80 lakh.
